YAY! My first published work!!!! If ya get a chance it's on pg. 2 of The Kernel tomorrow :)

The North West Haiti Christian Mission feeds 10,000 Haitians every day; the “Granmoun Feeding” is one way they accomplish this. The “Granmoun”, or old people of Haiti are often forgotten and become ‘misplaced’ in society. This little girl was waiting for her “Granmoun” to finish her meal. I don’t know if she got a meal that day, or if she had one the day before. All i know is that she loved having her picture taken… everyone there did… I couldn’t stay there and give her meals, or take her back with me as much as I wanted to. But I could take her picture, even thought it didn’t seem like enough.

Haiti 2009

Haiti is the most beautiful place I have ever been...
I don't mean to pick favorites, however I have to say Tatiana was the cutest, sweetest, girl in the orphanage. She pooped on me and I still loved her....

Kadiz... this dog was so sweet. A blue healer collie mix.

This girl was waiting for her care taker to finish eating at the "Granmoun" feeding. The North West Haiti Christian mission does a lot of great programs, this is one of them. They feed a big group of "Granmoun" (Creole for Old People) everyday. This little girl loved having her picture taken, well everyone did.

This would be a typical Haitian toy.... if you were lucky.

The waterfall was a beautiful place...
However, the children there are even more beautiful than the scenery.

Leaving Haiti was easy at first... I really wanted to be home. But then it got harder, when I realized I probably wouldn't be back for another year.... I left a part of me in Haiti... I love this place.

Run To Remember

I was able to attend the Lexington Fire Department's annual "Race To Remember" this past Saturday. I met a bunch of really cool people and was inspired by some really cool stories. They hold this race to remeber the fallen hero's of the September 11 attacks. In this shot is Chris Sweat and his daughter Katy Sweat; you could tell she really looked up to her Dad. Chris is a part of the Fire Fighter Combat Challenge team representing the Lexington Fire Department. This is the first time Lexington has participated in this competition and they have placed in the finals. The competition is pretty intese; a 2 minute course, called the "worst two minutes in sports."

The finish line of the race....
